Product description
The Mokume gane technique originated around 1600 in Japan. Loosely translated, it means metal with the structure of gnarled wood (moku - wood, me - eyes, gane - metal).
In the beginning, this technique was used to make parts of samurai swords (hilts). Later, mokume gane was also used to make jewelry.
This technique is very similar to damasteel. It is a similar production process, but not steel is processed, but e.g. silver, copper, gold, platinum, palladium and their alloys.
With mokume, the fine pattern of several contrasting metals is especially important.
