Product description

BOLTARON is a very durable thermoplastic alloy similar to KYDEX.

Like KYDEX, BOLTARON is made in the USA and can be heat molded over a range of temperatures 160°C – 200°C.

Heating can be done in a kitchen oven or with a heat gun.

It has unusual resistance to complete melting (softening) in the range of molding temperatures and can be shaped in classic molding presses, or it can be welded, glued or mechanically joined (riveted, screwed).

Like KYDEX, BOLTARON is also suitable for making sheaths for knives and weapons.

Compared to KYDEX, BOLTARON is a slightly harder material and can be a bit more difficult to work with. On the other hand, BOLTARON has greater heat resistance in the area of molding temperatures against melting, so it can be heated more during molding and shaped better. Another advantage is its shape stability when exposed to higher temperatures during normal use (left in a hot car in the summer or in direct sunlight). Likewise, compared to KYDEX, BOLTARON does not tend to crack and break when hypothermic or frozen.
