Product description
Bubinga grows in equatorial and western Africa. It grows to a height of 40-45 m, exceptionally up to 50 m, with a trunk diameter of around 1-2 m.
It is a hard and very durable wood. The heartwood is pinkish-red to dark reddish-brown, and may also have purple or red veining. The fibers are straight or wavy, it has a fine to medium texture with a slight natural sheen.
The wood is very resistant to external influences and wood-destroying insects. It is stable in shape. It is a hard but generally easy to work wood. Requires pre-drilling for nail holes, but glues and paints well. It is polished to a brilliant shine and smooth surface.
It is used for furniture, decorative items, turning, wooden jewelry, table tops and knife handles.
